59.92 mb download and I have plenty of space since I try to keep my Mac updated as much as possible and I scan it regularly. The download runtime menu opens up quickly enough, and runs. Opened Minecraft earlier today, no problems until I decide to get the update for the new included Java - esque features. I just went to a chat support for Mojang and was referred here since they said it is probably a bug. For technical support please use the Mojang Support Center.

Once both shields are disabled, you should be able to get the newest version of the launcher. In Avast, you'll need to disable both the File and Web Shields found under Preferences > Shields.
